The following extension packages exist to extend NeoFPS with optional functionality using Unity packages
CINEMACHINE
- Adds a cinemachine first person camera, alomg with a demo character, spawner and scene
- Install the latest cinemachine package from the package manager before extracting the extension package file
- To use (outside the demos):
- Find the camera object in your character's hierarchy
- Remove the camera component, along with the audio listener, post processing fix and any camera effects such as flare layers
- Add a CinemachineVirtualCamera component and set the priority high enough to be the primary camera
- Find the object with the StandardFirstPersonCamera component (usually the parent of the camera object)
- Replace the StandardFirstPersonCamera component with a CinemachineFirstPersonCamera component, duplicating the settings and pointing it at the new virtual camera
- Add the CinemachineCameraController to your scene, or use your own camera setup with a Cinemachine brain
- Works best with the "Cut" default transition type to prevent issues with camera blending on character spawn
INPUT SYSTEM
- Adds alternative versions of each of the NeoFPS input handlers and the input manager which use the input system instead of old input manager
- Requires Unity 2019.4 LTS or above
- Before extracting the package, make sure that the "Active Input Handling" property in the Player Settings/Other Settings section is set to "Both"
- Import the Input System package version 1.1.1 or higher in the package manager (you might need to enable experimental packages depending on your editor version)
- Once the package is extracted find the old input manager at NeoFPS/Resources/FpsManager_Input, and move it out of the Resources folder
- To use:
- Replace all input handler components (InputFirearm, InputInventory, InputCharacterMotion, etc) on your weapons, characters and other prefabs with the equivalent input system versions (InputSystemFirearm, InputSystemInventory, InputSystemCharacterMotion, etc).
- Open your menu prefabs (eg InGameMenu and MainMenu) and under the "Panels" object delete the "OptionsPanel_Bindings" object
- Replace that object with the "OptionsPanel_InputSystemBindings" from the NeoFPS/Extensions/InputSystem/SampleUI folder
- In the menu hierarchy, expand "MenuObject/NavControls/NavControls_Options" and select the "Button_Bindings" object
- In the "Multi Input Button" component, in the "On Click()` event, drag the new "OptionsPanel_InputSystemBindings" object onto the parameter that currently says "None (Menu Panel)"
- NOTE: You will need to close and re-open the NeoFPS hub if you had it open before importing the package. Without doing this, the "Managers" section will still show the old input manager.
- TIPS: The following objects will have an input handler (each one has a replacement):
- The root object of any weapon or tool (InputFirearm, InputMeleeWeapon, InputThrownWeapon, InputWieldableTool)
- The root of the character (InputCharacterMotion, InputInventory, InputCharacterSlowMo, etc)
- The player prefab (InputGame)
- Ability weapon prefabs (InputAbilityWeapon)
- Custom UI menus, not including the demo UIs (InputMenu)
- Lockpick UI prefabs (InputLockpick) |
